What To Expect

These sessions aren’t about perfection — they’re about connection.

From the quiet moments to the spontaneous ones, my goal is to capture the relationship you share with your horse in a way that feels honest and unforced. There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or make everything look a certain way. Instead, we’ll let things unfold naturally.

    • Every meaningful moment: You’ll receive all of the good images from our time together — every frame that tells the story of your session. Photos are delivered as small JPEGs, perfect for sharing and reliving those moments online.

    • Candid, in-between magic: The nose nuzzles, the soft glances, the laughter, the pauses — I focus on the moments that happen when you’re simply present with your horse.

    • A calm, easygoing experience: Your session is meant to feel lighthearted and relaxed, with no expectation for you or your horse to be anything other than yourselves.

    • Just time with your horse: Think of it less as a photoshoot and more as spending intentional time together, with me there quietly capturing what already exists between you.

General FAQ:

How should I prepare?

The biggest thing you can do is arrive with a relaxed, well-prepared horse and allow yourself plenty of time before your session begins. Horses should be fully groomed, clean, and photo-ready prior to arrival. This includes brushed coats, clean faces, detangled manes and tails, and wiped eyes and noses.

If you prefer a clipped or trimmed look (whiskers, bridle path, legs, etc.), this should be completed ahead of time. Please note that heavy dirt, stains, or unclipped areas cannot be realistically edited afterward, so preparation makes a huge difference in your final images.

I recommend a show bridle typically used on your horse, for photos. Any bit is welcome!

How do I receive my images? What is the turnaround time?

Digital images are included in every session package that I offer. I love being able to give clients the ability to share their images with friends and family online!

You will receive your images, usually through email, with a link to a personalized online gallery from which you can download the files straight to your computer.

I do my best to get your images to you in a timely manner! Depending on the type of session, images can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to get to you.

Can you edit specific details if I request them?

Yes. I’m happy to make additional small refinements upon request at no extra cost. This may include:

  • Minor blemishes or temporary marks
  • Small scratches or scuffs
  • Stray hairs or dust spots
  • Editing ears forward upon request : While I provide plenty of photos with your horse's ears forward, I do understand that sometimes a favorite photo may not include forward ears, or you may prefer a different expression. Upon request, I am happy to edit forward ears into a small number of selected images.
  • Small cosmetic adjustments

Please note that major alterations (extensive dirt removal, body reshaping, tack removal, or correcting lack of grooming/clipping) are not included, as these cannot be naturally or realistically corrected in editing.

What if I have multiple horses?

Typically, it's easiest to work with the horses individually, later editing them into shots together! I do my best to create believable compositions afterwards, in the editing process!

An assistant for these shoots to hold horses is ideal, to make the editing process smoother, in posing horses in the same lighting conditions and backgrounds.
